Emma Short-Lee, Taxi Driver & Chaperon

I bring to the table a lifetime spent working, playing, breathing and eating with four-legged tail waggers. In the times I have not had my own dog, I have always found a dog that needed extra TLC and “adopted” it.  There was the Rottweiler in Ohio, the Blue Heeler in Manhattan, the Elk Hound in Seattle and many others along the way.  Because of this, and the fact that I am a retired nanny of human children, I am well-accustomed to caring for others’ precious cargo and treat each dog with the love, attention and respect I do my own.  Nothing makes me happier than being outside, surrounded by dogs. Or driving with a super team of navigators and entertainers!

I am constantly continuing my education in the realms of canine behavior, positive reinforcement training and the human/dog relationship. I find I learn the most from listening to the dogs themselves.

When not doing all things Dog, I teach 5Rhythms Movement (to people) and am a graduate student studying to become a Five Element Acupuncturist.

Being a Brooklyn, New York, born pup, I’ve always liked being part of a pack. When you grow up on the big city’s sidewalks, you learn fast how to get along with lots of different folks all at once, canine and human.  Though Seattle is way greener, which is super cool with me, I miss the hustle bustle of NYC sometimes. Except when we’re working! I love picking up all our Doodlebug Dogs and taking them to the dog park so we can run and swim our butts off.  Exploring their neighborhoods is cool, too. As long as Emma lets me sniff enough. The only thing better than being a dog, is being a dog with a bunch of really good doggy friends! I find being dogs en mass has a good effect on humans – makes them more dog like. They listen better.

I take my job at Doodlebugs very seriously.  I assure you that all our dogs are monitored by yours truly at all times.  And if Emma comes up with any harebrained schemes for fun and entertainment that don’t fly with me, you can rest assured that I will, by no means, let her try them on your dogs.

I am a dedicated member of the Fuzzy Buddy’s Doggy Daycare pack and am constantly working toward perfecting the arts of barking-with-ball-in-mouth, critiquing chuck-it tosses and swimming faster than Labradors.
